Family And Community Engagement

Click HERE to visit Family Engagement Center website.

The Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center at The Ohio State University is a leader in the field of family, school, and community engagement. We are located at the Center on Education and Training for Employment, a translational research center within the College of Education and Human Ecology.

Our goal is to bring research to action by providing schools, families, and community partners with the tools they need to work together so all children have success in learning and life.

CAPE-Youth is currently looking for youth with disabilities between 16 and 24 to participate in a working group with 25 state leaders. The youth involved in the working group will discuss issues that youth with disabilities face during their transition to adulthood. The selected youth will have the opportunity to engage state leaders to improve the transition outcomes of youth with disabilities from high school settings to employment or post-secondary settings.

More information about the opportunity can be found on CAPE-Youth’s Website.

This event is not sponsored by State Suppport Team 9, but are provided for your information.

2021 Family Engagement Leadership Summit

Please join our team at OSU in spreading the news of the 2021 Family Engagement Leadership Summit. It will be held virtually, 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on September 17, 2021. Dr. Paul Gorski will present a keynote address on Family Engagement and Equity Literacy. We have four topic tracks for sessions:

  1. family engagement for supporting student mental health,
  2. family engagement for supporting student transitions,
  3. supporting opportunities for all families and students with family engagement, and
  4. leading family engagement.

Participants may attend any session in any track. Like last year, we will record all sessions for your use or viewing in the future.

Here is the link to the registration page on our website. We are posting regular updates on the site, and about the Summit on Twitter. https://ohiofamiliesengage.osu.edu/summit/

Please consider sharing the registration for the Summit with the districts with whom you work and/or posting it on your website. If any district has indicated they have room to grow in their family engagement practices in the One Needs Assessment, this is a great opportunity for professional learning!
